Biographical Information

Pat Gilland
PRESIDENT

A.A., Radiology Technologist, Essex Community College, 1971
Ms. Gilland has been employed as the office manager for C. Miller Excavating since 2004. Prior to that position, she served as the Supervisor of Diagnostic Imaging at Franklin Square Hospital for 34 years. While at Franklin Square, she served on several budgeting and fundraising committees.
Ms. Gilland has been recognized for her fundraising work to benefit the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Cancer Center. She serves as the Al anon Family Group Chairperson at Father Martin's Ashley Treatment Center.

Christina Garrigan

Ms. Garriganhas is Director of Communications for Maryland Environmental Service. Formerly a management analyst with Harford County Goverment, she has over 20 years of public relations and advertising experience. Chris has served on the Board of Harford United Charities since 1998.

Jerry Carpenter
TREASURER

Gerald Carpenter served for 32 years as a District Manager of Sales, Buffalo Tank Division, Bethlehem Steel Co., worked for 21 years as an Independent Manufacturer's Agent. He graduated from the University of Buffalo (1951), earned a degree from the University of Maryland (1978), and is a graduate of Harvard's Advanced Orientation Course (1976).

Ms. Denny has been employed by Father Martin's Ashley Treatment Center since 1984. Serving as the Family Program Coordinator until 2006, she now provides program support to patients and their families. In 2005, Ms. Denny received the Mae Abraham Award for Outstanding Family Program Coordinator. She is also a freelance Spanish language translator.
Ms. Denny currently volunteers at St. Patrick's Church in Havre de Grace, MD where she assists in arranging counseling for military veterans returning from combat and their families.

Karen Sugden
M.S.W., Clinical Social Work, University of Maryland 1993
M. Ed., Special Education, University of Pittsburgh 1969
Ms. Sugden has been in full time private practice as a counselor for over 20 years. She is licensed by the state of Maryland in clinical social work, clinical drug and alcohol counseling, and clinical hypnotherapy. Her areas of expertise include chemical dependency, anxiety, depression, children and adolescents, and women's issues.
Ms. Sugden is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the National Association of Drug and Alcohol Counselors, and the American Hypnosis Academy.
